Yes, I'm very disappointed that I'm with XBox Live South Africa. But hey it's the way things go.It just sucks that I promised my wife that I'll get her Beyond Good & Evil HD but who knows when we'll get it now.
In a way I feel sorry for the guys at MS xbox live SA, they have to compete with an international service thats been running for years, did xbox live uk or US not also start small and gradually expanded its content and overall service. Plus they have to contend with our ridiculously retarded content rating system.
I will only feel sorry for them if they are more clear and open about what's going on. I feel they are dodging the public and lawyering questions. We'll see how things go though. Games24 sent some questions that we asked to Microsoft Live South Africa so I look forward to hearing the answers. If they are honest answers then hey, that's alright. But if they dodge questions again then I'll still see them as useless.
An example of a straight answer:
By the way, does someone have a link where they say it's because of the games having to be rated? Maybe if I read that then I will be satisfied. The reason why we have so few arcade games is because they have to be rated by our South Affrican rating board. The reason why even games like Pac Man has not been rated yet is out of our hands. We keep bullying the board and we hope for good results. We will keep you guys informed bi-weekly on this website: www.rsa-live.co.za.
Ah the straight answers make sense. I'm on SA live and am very disappointed with what's on offer.
Oh just know that I made the straight answer up.It's not actually their answer.
/slowclapXBox Live Arcade House Party will not be coming to South Africa
And this Microsoft, is why you suck. If you offered a *full* service (and by full I don't mean netflix, but I do expect all XBLA and Indie content, as well as a full Inside XBOX channel, even if it is syndicated from the US or UK) - then maybe you could justify the increased local costs. Instead, you expect gamers to pay more for less.
The ONLY thing the South African XBL has done, is add ZA IP addresses to the 'whitelist' for region-blocked content. Best part of that is - it works on my UK account
Like Solitude said, open up with us - give us a lot more info as to what's going on. Be transparent. Only then will you gain our trust. Trust needs to be earned. Tin-canned PR responses are the short path to the sh*t list.
As always, get a UK/US account, buy content and play on your SA account on the same xbox
