Thread: IP exploitation is your fault

The laughable “boycott” of Modern Warfare 2
Not my fault. I canceled my preorder. *Angry stares at random people.*

Modern Warfare 2 really showed publishers that they can pretty much do what they want
I blame the console crowd. After all that crap Activision pulled (no lean, no console, no dedicated)...the console crowd shoots the sales for the game sky-high guaranteeing that Activision pull will stunts like that from that day onward....which they duly did...behold BO.

Edit: Funny how sales figures and the poll results don't correlate even remotely. So either this forum is full of wise people or people are bullshtting themselves.

And much to my dismay, MW2 released - and most of the gamers who swore not to buy slobbered their way to the nearest store to paw their copy off the shelf. Willpower ... awesome stuff. When you have any. And because of that, we now have Black Ops, which those same gamers are now crying themselves to sleep about. They need to deal with it - they're the ones giving twerps like Kotick the power. If Activision started losing money, he wouldn't be staying in his position for very long.

Of course, my boycott of Activision products is mostly a protest based around the presence of Kotick. But my decision stands, until the day he leaves for good, Activision won't see a cent of my hard-earned dosh.

Now if you will excuse me, I'm off to search for more GW2 hype
Word up sistah! [email protected] Was the last proper CoD game. Too bad the servers died.

THQ and 2K are now the last 2 shining stars for me.

I dunno about lean (I've always been pretty indifferent about it, even on PC), but it's worth bearing in mind that a console and dedicated servers are completely irrelevant to console gamers.

It's also worth bearing in mind that, generally speaking, multiplatform titles sell faaaaaaaaaaar more on console than PC. Can you really blame devs and publishers for catering to their biggest market? :P

Yes Raven ... but when I boycott a game by not buying it, I don't go around pirating the damn thing.

And sistah ... is kinda inappropriate ... I'm male. Don't let my avi fool you (although it apparently managed to do this quite well)

That may be the case but I don't think so... This is a chance for all the new/and remaining employees to make their mark on the series and it might actually rise from the ashes! I do secretly hope that Activision lose this court case because I don't want CoD in the hands of that wanker Kotick!

Activision Blizzard are one company Although I believe Blizzard has a controlling share ... no idea how the deal was set up. But paying Blizzard anything means I'm putting money in Kotick's pockets ... I find the idea repelling. So no Diablo III for me.

With regards to the current IW being able to push the franchise ... I'm not so sure. Any mass exodus from a studio, especially when it loses staff that was completely central to the development of a particular title tends to take a great deal of wind out of the sails. And at the moment, IW is being headed by people Kotick put in place, which means they're going to be dancing to whatever tune he chooses to sing.

My memory's a bit fuzzy, but I seem to remember a major studio losing a big bunch of staff in a similar fashion - and they just never amounted to anything after that. Anyone else remember?

They may be one company (I knew that !) but you don't see Activision rushing the release of Diablo III now do you? They've even announced a console version so that means another 1-2 years before we get a release date (Imo). So I still trust Blizzard
