    Default Recommend a 5.1 soundcard

    Hey guys

I bought myself a Roccat Kave headset, and the 'middle' channel is picking up electrical noise. Obviously its super annoying.

I Googled around and discovered that this is a common problem with this headset when using onboard sound.

So I need a sound card. I've never owned a dedicated sound card, and know very little about them.

I'm looking to spend about R700 max, don't need anything fancy.

    Thoughts?

I've always used Creative and I see that Sybaritic has the Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme Audio PCI Express Sound Card for R690.

Just gotta watch out with the Creative range because they have different offerings. The Xtreme Audio doesn't come with gaming features such as EAX and Dolby

The X-Fi Titanium on the other hand...

I'd recommend this one though: http://us.store.creative.com/PCI-Exp...B0018EFGTM.htm

I've got the Asus Xonar DX and I'm quite happy with it.

    Check out the following roundup:

For that budget, get one of the Asus Xonar range. If you find a decent Creative X-Fi in SA, I'll be genuinely surprised. SA hasn't had a Creative distributor in nearly 2 years...

Maybe look at the Asus Xonar DX?
The difference between pizza and your opinion is that I asked for pizza.

Yeah, finding a Creative card in SA will be tough. I was looking at getting myself a Xonar card myself.

I had the Asus Xonar GX (or something) and they don't have Rear Surround, it's only Stereo Surround or something like that. Check the other thread about it.

I know Plassie would recommend you look for a Create Audigy 2 ZS. I know he is using one with the same headset. I have the same headset as well and am using onboard over the Xonar cards.
