Take the 30 million, get 3d realms back on track, finish Duke, Publish it, have it mass pirated, sell some copies and make a boardgame.

I think the guy from 3d Realms is grasping at straws. Sell the IP and you company lives to fight another day, hold it and yes Id or Epic or Microsoft might help but after 12 years i wouldn't fund them. If they couldn't do it in 12 years they're not going to be able to another 12. I say sell the IP and take the money to cover your debts so that the company doesn't go under.
I can understand why he want to hold onto it, if it ever does get released it will make alot more than 30mil, the thing to note there is that if... if it doesn't they loose 30mil and their company.

But he's right. If they get thier ass into gear, finish it properly, that can put 3d Realms back on the list of top developers for the FPS genre. DNF has taken forever for them, and if they get that out the way they can finish other games that they've been planning too finish since like decades ago (bear in mind that Prey was announced when Quake 1 had been on the market for about 6 months).

They just need to catch a wake up really...

Well should Take2 re-open 3DRealms I suppose there will be no stuffing around for them as they will have to finish what they started especially seeing as they have 30mil to blow on game developments
