    Default Deus Ex 3

After me and Maplassie hijacked the Thi4f thread i thought id start this one for General discussions regarding Deus Ex 3.

Maplassie I read through that article in Total PC Gamer again and in like the second column there piece where they say how one of their main aims are to let the players play the game their[the players] way. So that, to me anyways, says we don't have to threat about it being more action orientated than RPG/Stealth. I think they chose the regenerating health system simply to help newer players to not get stuck and give up.

    Hmmm, thanks for this.

Well I expect a non regen mod early after the release of the SDK hehe.

I still just dont think its fitting. Deus Ex is about exploring your enviroments, attaining healthpacks, lockpicks etc, also promoting tactical gameplay and carefull planning on how to finish each location, the locations being mutlipathed wich was awesome in itself aswell!

NOw its run, shoot hide for 3 seconds run shoot hide for 3 seconds.

But as you said, be cautiously optimistic. I will try, but its hard, I am an UBER Deus Ex fan man....

    LOOKY LOOKY!!!!!!

The gaming world tends to hail BioShock as an FPS title that found the right balance between a mainstream shooter, with an easy-to-use RPG side that meant the game didn’t only have niche appeal. While derived from System Shock beginnings, BioShock certainly wasn’t the first game to achieve a respectable balance between FPS and RPG elements. The Deus Ex series, most notably the first game, shares many core similarities with BioShock and not just in the balancing act between two gaming genres, but also in the presentation of a rich and complicated narrative.

    Late last year we brought you the news of the first real details being unveiled for the latest game in the series, Deus Ex 3, but a whole lot more information has just come through. Originally featured in the Czech gaming magazine Hratelne, a couple of Eidos forumites have translated the text, revealing many details about the upcoming game. You can check out the fully translated article here, or more of a manageable list below taken from this post;

“-The world is ruled by mega-corporations, more powerful than national governments. The conspiracy groups are setting these corporations against each other.
-The black ops slaughter the research division of the corporation Adam works at. The questions who and why is behind the attack are answered relatively soon into the game, however more serious questions arise with the answers.
-You will be regularly visiting Adam's apartment with many reminiscences of his past like photos and a diary.
-The game takes place in five well-known metropolis’s, mentioned were Shanghai, Detroit and Montreal.
-Women play a large role in the game, some of them you've known for a long time, others will try to seduce or betray you, depending on your previous actions.
-Bosses are included, their difficulty also depending on your previous actions.
-The secret societies are just puppets for a shadowy figure who wants to take control over all of the market, society, and the human evolution.
-The events of the game will lead to the establishment of UNATCO.
-The main villain is to be 'similar' to Jensen.
-A rescue mission across the globe [comes] later in the game.
-[The game features] squad based combat AI with a visually identifiable squad leader.”

I agree with you totally, it isn't totally fitting for Deus Ex but its a design choice they made, i would have done it differently and i know you would but i guess we will just have to except it.

I always think that if you create a more realistic ballistic model such as in S.T.A.L.K.E.R then a regen-health system works better as long as the possibility for insta-kill is plentyfull so that you can't just run and gun. Offcourse talker didn't have regen-health and it worked out fine but there are times when you dropped you guard and now your bleeding bad with no health packs and no bandages. Yes this ramps up the challange but i think more casual gamers don't see it the way we do. If they have to do the same section over for half an hour they give up. Its a numbers game, they love their hardcore fans but want to bring in new blood as it will sell more copies and thus more money.
They didn't expand enough in the article about the health system so maybe they put in some other mechanic to help bring balance, we will have to wait and see.

Say have u got a release date on it?

You are spot on there. Make it for the masses, make masses of money.

YEah casual gamers tend to dislike struggling in spots, or actually using their brains for puzzles. They want gunz, lots of ammo and lots of things to shoot when it comes to FPS games. That was my initial concern with DX3, that it would turn out to be TOO casual.

Naah mate no release dates yet hey, But I Dont expect it this year for some reason!

Only time will tell whether it will be TOO casual but get the feeling it will still very much be Deus Ex. My wants for this title is to be able to go where i want in a level and achieve objectives my way. If i wanna sneak past tranqing guys or go in guns blazing or any combination i want it to be my choice. I loved BioShock, loved the narrative to bits but i felt it focused a little too much on gunplay. i mean Deus Ex is still one of the only games where you could go through the main campaign and only kill 1 or 2 people.

Must say wish i was on the team working on this title. My coding skills may be on Noob level but i have design idea's that would kick ass. One day i'm going to get my chance and my game, part Hitman, part Fallout, Bioshock and big part Deus Ex will hopefully one day be compared to the likes of BioShock and Deus Ex.

Maybe early next year... we can only hope. Wikipidea has the release date simply as 2010. At least we have a few titles to keep us happy this year.

See that's what made DX1 awesome. dude I am serious, I must have completed that game 15-20 times, getting all 3 (and the hidden 4th) ending each time.

I actually did what you just said, played through the entire game without killing a single person. And each time I explored different dialogue options, and level paths. Another gem was in doing this, you got one or two levels that loaded differently then, like the vandenburg gas station etc. OR when you are captured, by sneaking really quickly through the vents, you can actually find your brother paul alive!!!!!!Sheer brilliance
