That quote is a winner. Two guesses who's been most affected by Anonymous's actions thus far - but you'll probably only need one.Sony now has self proclaimed internet consumer protector group Anonymous on its back.
If I were Sony and wanted to make some waves (pun intended), I would employ old Geohotz for security on the next ps4...
This kinda makes you feel a bit sorry for them..![]()
This whole thing is way out of preportion
the hackers all all acting in a "we deserve better" manner, liek this is some dam political rally or revolution.
Yes than ran Linux of thier machines at one point, big whoop, the real reason is what we are seeing now, free and cheap software on the PS3.
No one has forced anyone to buy sony's console at all, so the act of "we wil get you" or "there is more to come" acting for some justice is just idiotic and it prooves there are alot of bored people out there.
If you dont agree witt the ethics or Sony's terms, dont buy the console! If it really bothers you so much and you already own one, go and sell it. Its the case of greed and "we can never have enough" for the majority of these "guy fawkes" kiddies they want to feel part of something.
Lets get down to the real reason why Sony is getting such an agressive attack on the by these hackers...
1. Sony is actively doing their best so stop unapproved software running on thier console by updates and any other measures they can impose
2. My Geohotz may say what he likes, he opened Pandora's box and he must deal with that, Sony will make an example of him and show that no one is above the law and besides its thier right to prosecute this bloke! If he had noble intentions perhaps he shouldve contacted sonly and said "hey i cracked your console, perhaps you guys might want to look into this, if you guys allow homebrew again i wont need to publish these keys and thus preventing the 'cracking' of your console". Instead he goes and shouts out all the keys to the world...so either he is stuiped (which i highly doubt) or he wanted homebrew and knew the consequences of what publishing these keys may do.
3. This is Sony's product, yes you brought it but go n read the T&C, again, you dont agree, dont buy!
4. the most important part is sony "biting back" at these hackers, usualy when something is cracked like a game, there is really little to no resistance for the hackers, if Sony is going donw, well their going down swining.
Time will tell where this whole debacle will lead, "play with fire and youre going to get burned"
"Oh jirre Bakgat nou wat?"
As to the T&C, bear in mind it was amended by Sony after the release of the hack. Not entirely sure what the previous T&C said, or for that matter what this one says, but the mere fact that is was changed speaks volumes.
there is no justification for what these guys want to d to the PS3, its all scapegoats and lies
your telling me this whole thing started just because some homebrew fans could not use the PS3 for that anymore? or is the real reason far less noble....
"Oh jirre Bakgat nou wat?"
I really couldn't care either way for this. Yes, I think Sony are being big kid pricks, but I also think Hotz was stupid.
Why can Sony not simply accept that the deed has been done? And if they ever make a PS4, it will most likely be done there as well. Hotz on the other hand also displayed is utter stupidity. He could have made himself bucket loads of cash if he had gone to Sony and told them he found a way in. Then signed a non disclosure and lived happily ever after.
Did Hotz do wrong? In my uneducated opinion, no. In my eyes, he bought the PS3 and it was his to tinker with as he saw fit. Should he have given up the secret, no, not so much.
This whole thing has gotten so far out of hand. Do I support these vigilantes? Yeah, a little. Maybe it is time that these fat cat corporates realise that their is a public who will not take crap forever and will eventually fight back. I'm waiting for something like this to start happening to other bullies such as Activision, EA, Apple, MS, etc. People are prepared to eat a lot of shit, but everyone has their tipping point and I reckon these attacks against Sony are merely a sign of things to come. But there is a line that these people must be very careful not to cross. Where is that line? I don't know myself, but then again I'm not part of the vigilantes. I know this though, going after employees on a personal level is not merely crossing the line, but obliterating it.
Viva la revolucion!

agreed, by that reasonign alone the "hackers" are taking it too far, these are people who work to provide for their families, they are the wrong targets. I think the reason thier doing this is the same reason terrorists take hostages, the have some protection, that being said, Sony may or may not care about thier employees and continue to press forward, i wouldnt be suprised that Sony may employ their own anti-hacker hackers as i said before, fight fire with fire. I would actually be worried if i were the hacker, simple really, the person who remains quiet and reserved (sony). may be plotting and forumlating a plan against these hackers, this is really not a laughing matter for Sony and it is actually breaking the law by doing a DDos attack for instance. Now taking personal info of employees? thats playing with fire. I predict things to get far worse before they get better, Sony will stand firm in this situation. Pandora's box has been opened and as the saying goes "nou gaan jy [email protected]!"going after employees on a personal level is not merely crossing the line, but obliterating it.![]()
