RE: why BLops got so much stick
People say whtat hey want about COD and boycotts etc but the game is fun and at the end of the day you play the game to have fun. thats the whole points, have fun with your mates.
Now BO, why did it get so much stick?
1. Expectation, ya sure some of you say COD has been on the downfall since Cod4 and then you see 90% of the "Boycott MW2 steam group memebers playing MW2, why because again, it was fun, yes it could be better with Dedi servers but it actually brought the gaming community closer IMO, i met new people through groups that had to be made in order to find hosts etc for MW2
2. BO hyped itself up, marketing and more marketing, so you expect the game to prefrom even better than the previous CoD title, from a technical point of view, BO has failed, why? the IWNET enigne being the CoD 4 engine was more than well recieved. When the IWNET 4.0 engine came out it looked even greater (this was the mw2 engine fyi) Now 3ARC were not and should never be the main dev for any Cod title, the problem they have is that they wanted to do one up on IW but instead buggered up an engine, a few examples is being killed by Napalm inside a building or having have you side sticking through a wall and thus quickly being nailed.
3. Innovation and new ideas, what im tryna say is we got new things in BO no other CoD offered but when a released the game itself doesnt function correctly, for example BMW advertise a new M3 with the next Gen brakes and the best gearbox in the world, you buy the car but things like the accelerator is very delayed or the reverse gear doesnt work 100%, sure you gave us the new things bt the basic functionality is faulty, this sums up BO.
4. Main reason BO got such stick....the sheer volume of players that brought and play it, the more ppl playing the more complaints you would receive, simple math, if every 3 in 10 people found black ops to be an issue, times that by 10 0000 adn you have 30 000 unhappy customers, youre going to hear about it, even though the 70 000 are happy, lets face it, 30 000 unhappy customers will catch someones attention....this is why it is so important they get it 95% right on launch, rather have a few unhappy customers that are upset about the game being delayed than a whole lot more when a game is released, lets face it delaying a game wont exactly make you lose as much customers than releasing a half working game.
Even though most issue in BO are fixed, its the credibitly that got damaged in the proccess, Devs shoudl rather push back release dates if need be and get it right first time, no one expects a bug free game but no one also expects a swarm of locust bugs either....
