Hello everyone.
This is a double post coming from the general gaming forum.

Its my privilege to give to you , the Game Room.
Your very own TS3 server , hosted here in Johannesburg.
Low latency and free to the mygaming community.
3 Gig bandwidth is currently assigned to the server every month.
I hope you enjoy my gift to you.
Please PM me if you have any problems or email [email protected]

TinMan has been given the Admin token and he will give it to people who he chooses to be Channel operators.

Anyone can connect to the server and make their own channels , PM me names you think would be good to be permanently added to the server and I will get it done in the evening.

I used the default linux setup , don't know if someone wants to connect to the server and check it out.
I didn't change any limits.

If anyone wants to recommend a change to something on the server please pm me.

Awesome stuff Mr. Kerby, very generous of you!

We might have to change the bit rate though for the guys with the low speed lines. Otherwise the VOIP will cause their games to lag. We can just check out the bit rate and set it a bit lower if need be. I remember when I created a channel on the DoGaming server for our BC2 clan, I had to set the bit rate a bit lower to accommodate the guys with the 384k lines.

Do you remember what bit rate you set it to ?

Hey dude, yes.

We set it to Wideband - 16kHz and 30% quality. It doesn't sound too bad, but makes it usable for the other guys. You might want to experiment a bit with the quality though, I think you should be able to set the quality a bit higher though on wideband. Maybe 50% or 60%, but we'll just have to test and tweak it along the way to try and get the highest quality possible without causing the okes to lag :D

Nice going...I'll relog tonight to check it out. Last night I was there all by my lonesome. :(

I have my own web hosting company (thespacebar.co.za) , let me worry about that. :)
Nah not worried at all. Just interested. I'm guessing it won't be too heavy though since TS is intended to run alongside games & thus has to be b/w light.

Definitely a good way to contribute to the community. Props.

I'll help to test it this weekend, I don't really have a working mic to speak with but I'll check how well I can hear the other okes. on a 384 line btw

Channel bit rate has been set to :
Codec: Speex Wideband (16 kHz)
Codec Quality: 3 (estimated bitrate: 1.39 KiB/s)

We can play with the settings to optimize it as people start using it.

i'll be on a bit more over the weekend :)

weekday's are reserved for SP games, weekends are for multiplayer mayhem :D

Thanks for setting up those channels, Kirby. I didn't mean to log off so unexpectedly, but when your PC bluescreens you don't have too much say in what happens. :o
