Vodacom shuts down Vodacom Gaming - says gaming in SA "potentially limited"

Vodacom servers were really, really bad. :/ I think it's a good thing that they discontinued it. Do it right, or don't do it at all.
 
Hey dude, currently there's no real need for local server because iGame and WAGE usually always have it all covered!

If someone would ask for a server to be hosted, it would probably be a for a game noone hosts anymore.

@Rif: Yup, and the Left 4 Dead 2 VGS servers. Those were laggy as ballllsss!1
 
Is this the part where you get all teary eyed and say what a loss it is, But in actual fact you don't really care?

Tbh, I never even saw a VGS server...
 
Vodacom chart of solutions:
Bad call rates = Change colour
Bad internet speeds = Change colour
Bad service = Change colour
No one using your server = Change colour and discontinue.
 
they had zero marketing. when wage, igame and mweb started up their's they made sure people knew that sgs was no longer the only servers in the country, vodascum? nope. start up and hope people stumble upon them

I played of a few of their servers and really can't say I'm surprised by this move. Their servers were dodgey and their service non-existent. I feel we will soon be seeing the end of SGS too. There simply isn't any reason for them to continue hosting servers anymore.
 
Do people still play on SGS?

It's now just iGame and WAGE for me, with the occasional P2P gameplay.

No dude, I don't think anyone plays on anything besides iGame and WAGE anymore. All the others failed to meet the basic need of the gaming community, for example, proper administration of the service and a lag free gaming experience.
