Thanks, you've watched an array of series hey. The only experience I have with mecha anime is Rah-Xephon and Neon Genesis Evangelion.
The mecha genre is huge, and it's not always about gigantic robots. Very often they are used as a smaller part of the plot and also to full in the action sequences, as seen in Code Geass, which is known more for it's plot twists than it's mecha.
