Basically it looks dumbed down for an audience that won't fully comprehend the themes of the original films story. To cater to the masses it will have to be a good action movie firstly, but with that in mind, the philosophical discussions and themes will be taking a back seat.
So (for me) they are adding in the coolest looking scenes from the anime/manga/films and turning it into an action film. The production team seems okay at best, the writers have nothing serious on their names. So it falls upon how well the it was adapted. Sure they got Avi Arad... wait... He has only worked on super hero films... Call me a pessimist but, I am struggling to see how it is going to succeed. Maybe it will surprise us all, until them I am not holding much hope for it.
