Philosophical?? I loled.
Maybe I should explain my stance on NGE.
***********SPOILER ALERT************
For starters I find it irritating when someone, half-way through a series, thought it would be a great idea messing the whole story line up due to losing funding and apparently turning insane.
You can notice a shift in half way through the season, both in quality of the episodes as well as the tone of the series. Not only does our main hero go all emoboy, but also one of the heroines begins to think about her dead mother half-way through a fight with one of the angels. Uhm, timing could be better? She then refuses to work, she cries and our hero NOW has self-existence issues. How's that for a cool story line?
Let’s have a look at the characters and the story line…no wait sorry, I meant that thin thread the episodes try to connect each other in the second half of the series. Lots of personal story lines, but nothing does actually move the story forward. The story began something along the lines of “Defend Earth from the Angels”, then it turns into “Let’s save Earth – no wait, let’s all have our own emo-problems and turn all #$%^ed up!”
An then there's ‘Death & Rebirth’ and the ‘End of Evangelion’: It must have been some futile attempt to try and get the storyline sorted out or to calm most of the fans who were pissed at the ending of the series. Anyways, now we see the hero jacking off to the heroine (who is in a coma) and after some random fighting, crying, shouting, dying, killing, making ones body explode….well after some time of that the hero tries to strangle the heroine and fails just to be greeted with the word “useless”.
At that point I start asking myself why….. why did I put the hours into this anime, hours that I would never be able to get back, I have wasted time in my life on watching something with so much potential, so much potential!!!, just to see it get @#$*ed over.
How people can sing it's praises…. is beyond me.![]()
