Alright...... Based on terms and conditions.
When the Beta got released of wow, if used C# and a SQL database. IT HAD NO TERMS and CONDITIONS! Thus private servers were born. All files contained in hosting a server are legal....

    BUT!

The files that server needs are in the Official wow game itself. Map data, creature locations, and actions. Those are copywrited. So When they ask a private server to be shut down, they say.... We are using the our Own core with none of blizzards copywrited content. Boom! They safe...

Even if blizzard connected to a Prvserver they cant tell if the maps are theres.... Thats why those massive private servers with 10000 players are still going. They cant be shut down. the guys that did the first private servers got hired by blizzard....
    Back to what i Quoted-
    - Sa community is and SA community, wether illegal or legal.-

There are like over 4000 private servers of wow. ROughly.
And NO... I dont host one, i Play >>>Official<<<< Aion.

There's a number of difference between the "free" SA WoW community and the official SA WoW community The most obvious is that the latter is far more moderated than the former.

The server software may be legal in a huge gray area but using the Blizzard software to connect and play on one is illegal.

Say we do get a local official server, we will obviously have to to pay to play on it.

Anyone got a rough idea of how much?

To be honest even if a local server was implemented I would still play on EU.

Have a feeling it'd just turn into a huge elitist drama mess. Like most of our gaming communities

That is true. Many of our local game communities (not forums for the most part) are pathetic. People are so unfriendly and, as you said, elitist. Twilight, for example. Sis
