Venom, 900mhz is right, it's DDR memory i.e. 'double data rate' so you effectively multiply the 900 by two which is 1800. What CPU do you have? A slow CPU can limit the framerate you're able to achieve, no matter what monster graphics card you have.

I can't remem off hand but i'll post here tonight. I've decided to return the video card and I'll be getting the ATI HD 4870 instead :P

I went into WoW last night [newbie...] and my fps was stuck at 60fps with a 9800GTX+ on an LCD (max settings)

Strange....I'm beginning to think my motherboard may be the culprit. I'll post my entire pc specs here tonight and maybe you guys will be able to pinpoint what could be the cause

Okay from what I see your specs are very similar to mine, exact same CPU. So I can't pinpoint what your problem might be, if it's a problem at all really. You should be getting no lower than 60 fps in WoW with those specs. I get 60 fps in CoD4 and World at War for example. My brother with the 9600GT and a slightly slower CPU gets almost the same fps.

Edit: Oh one other thing, make sure AMD Cool and Quiet is turned off in the BIOS, it has a propensity to not up the core clock when you play games, leaving at around 1Ghz instead of it's default 2.7Ghz. Happened on my brothers PC.

Edit 2: After reading your original complaint again i see you say you expected a big FPS boost in WoW. My problem with that is if you were already getting 60fps on your 7900, then you won't see a substantial difference with the new card, simply because WoW was running at optimum already. It uses a pretty old graphics engine and even older cards can handle it with ease. So if you wan't to see a difference then try playing newer games that will stress the GPU

Thanks for the info Isengard. I'll change the bios when I get a chance.

I don't have my graphics settings at max in WoW. They're on the "good" setting which is roughly 3 notches from the left of about 9 or 10 notches in total. If I go any higher my FPS starts dropping below 60fps. At max settings I get between 15 and 25 fps. Disappointing really. I was really looking forward to playing my games at max graphics.

But I'm returning the 9600GT simply because it's pretty much the same as my old card. Come payday I might go for the ATi HD4870.

Not that I'm complaining, 60FPS is fine by me (30 would be fine too), it's not like a 3d shooter where you need the FPS
