    Default Global Agenda

So I discovered global agenda over the weekend with the steam f2p event, at first I was a bit confused and skeptical about the game as it turned out it was quite different from any other mmo I've played thus far. It turns out though that its devilishly addictive and an awesome f2p model.

    Overview:
Basically Global Agenda is a first person shooter mmo (actually 3rd person, but you know what I mean) it was built on the unreal engine and looks very pretty. I must mention though if you have 2Gb or less of RAM its going to battle a bit, if you playing from a low spec pc the game is unfortunately going to be a bit unstable.

A great upside to the game is it seems to be pretty balanced and while you can buy items with real cash, all those items are available for free as well it might just take you a hell of a long time to get them. The good thing though is that items don't play that big a role, sure epic gear is better than uncommon gear but only by a bit and when pitted face to face with each other (which you probably wont ever be) its still anyone's game because GA relies on skill. Hmmm, now you might be thinking, skill based fps with now SA server, this is not going to work :/ Well actually it does, given sniping is rather difficult, but any other class works fine and if you practice enough, even sniping is possible.

You can choose from four different types of characters classes, its simple you have your tank, medic, assassin and all around support (the robotic). One thing that throws people is off a bit is that there are essentially only two open world areas in the game; the dome which is basically the city and where you find all the shops and stuff and then the desert which is a questing area for lvl 1-15ish. After that you just use the desert for farming some things, but I hardly ever go in there anymore.

After 15 its all PvP and PvE through short raids, for PvE you team up with a group of 3 other people (through auto matchmaking or manually making a team with friends) and do a little raid with a boss at the end. There are different difficulty levels with different rewards and these are unlocked as you level up. PvP is 10 v 10 action that also gives good XP and rewards. The game then properly starts at lvl 30 with big raids and dome defence for even better rewards. There is also a AvA (agency vs agency) basically alliance vs alliance but on an epic scale where you fight for land, construct resources mining buildings, assault other agencies to take their land and receive big rewards if you do well. AvA happens over different seasons in the game that you can subscribe to, which basically puts you down for a few hours over a chosen time period to defend and attack.

I'm not even at 30 yet but will be soon. The payed for options in the game, which I suggest if your enjoying it is upgrading to the elite agent pack, this is a once of R140 and gives you double XP and a loot drop through PvE and PvP missions and its forever After that you can buy a booster that's about R45 for 10 days (but gets allot cheaper the longer you buy it for) and this doubles your XP once again, gives you another loot drop and 2000 tokens a day (which can be used to buy some things)

My nick is Trowalts if anyone wants to give it a go and has questions in game.

    ps.
Apologise for opening another thread if one already exists, even through I've been a member since 2009 I still can't figure out how the hell to search the forum.

This is a great game. I leveled my assault 50 doing -just- merc pvp , that's how addictive it is. I played it back when they didn't even have the raids and the open-world questing zones. I log in every now and then for a quick jam.

I am surprised the game is generally flying under the radar , it's alot more than Team Fortress 2 and basically very close to a Tribes experience as can get at this time.

On a side note, i assume you're aware the developer behind this game is in fact making the next Tribes game. Don't be surprised if it will feel similar to Global Agenda in terms of the jetpacks/combat itself.

My nick is silvertemplar . I'm not too active, but i might actually play some now.....

Also used to play a lot, although, it runs terribly on my PC, even though it doesn't look very impressive.
Frustrating as shit when you can run a game like Crysis 2 comfortably, but switching to this, with mostly low settings, can get rather choppy at times.

Anyways.. kinda just grew out of it. :/ But people should really give it a shot, lotta fun.

I've been slowly downloading this on Steam in the background for a week now.
Should finish in about another week...

Also heard very good things about it in general. Will see if I actually indulge in any micro-transactions once I get a feel for it.

Here's my favorite fan made video of this game, gives a good idea what it is really about. They did add a few more MMO'y things and there are the PvE [5-man / 10-man dungeons] stuff , but ultimately it's the 10 vs 10 fights that i enjoyed the most.

Just want to comment on this. One thing that makes a huge difference is, this is not MW2/Battlefield where you get one-shotted from any kind of weapon. You have a very reasonable health bar and taking down anyone will require more than just being first to get a shot in. This alone makes the latency much less of an issue, over actually knowing what to do [i.e. keeping track of your power regen , using the right weapons and moving around] .

As for sniping, they've made it intentionally difficult regardless of latency [there's some sort of projectile physics going] , but even after the fact, snipers usually don't one-shot either. Yes, they can take out another recon or medic [with low health] if they line up all their boosts and such, but against something like a tank-spec assault, not a chance . An assault got an immunity shield against that kind of fire anyway.

This is why you'll see more often melee- recons than sniping recons too. More damage and all.
