Yeah I don't see what the problem is, when so its always been your own choice. If you don't want to have a gay relationship, you don't have to. Aren't Homosexual entitle to have a same sex relationship in a game and not be forced to have a straight one? Its a Role Playing Game. They have the same rights as a straight person you know? And thus should be entitled to play what ever role they want in the story. Hate to burst your bubble, but by saying they aren't allowed to do things the way they want to and only your way does make you a bigot, no matter how many times you say you have gay friends.

Yes, maybe that religion is obtuse, wrong, silly, irrelevant in this day and age, but I would still have my right to it.
Right and wrong are subjective, yes. So is life. That's my point--there is no black and white. What's "right" to you is "wrong" to me and vice-versa. Ergo, the path of least harm is the lesser "evil" if you will.

And I wasn't accusing you, necessarily, of forcing your view on anyone - I was commenting on the tone of this thread.
Thanks, although I'm quite renowned for being an opinionated and stubborn asshat at times

That's all I have to say on the matter, really - like I said, I don't want to get involved in this debate (except I somehow managed it already) - like religious discussions it's likely to turn into a damn quagmire - this thread being a case in point.
    Understandable

    This thread made me laugh.

Ahem, so being rather trained on the subject of gayness, it's actually a good thing for society that producers and developers are revealing the more "real" aspects of human relations. Being gay isn't exactly very common but in the case of Mass Effect 3 I'm sure that being stuck in a space ship with a limited amount of people/creatures could make people question their sexuality when the hormones get flowing. It happens, for goodness sake.

Anyway, I'm not going to stand around here saying that it's great and that all games need to have such things because at the end of the day I believe that if queer people, such as myself, run around proudly proclaiming their queerness then straight people can do it too. What I'm trying to say is that it really isn't a big deal and people should try to get over it. Read a little, watch some Brokeback Mountain, look around you in general. And if you don't like it, just how I didn't enjoy making Kratos in God of War 3 hump a few women, get over it and just enjoy the damn game.

And as for the certain few of us stating that "OMG ThIs S*** is SOOOO WROng!!" I recommend that your children play nothing but interactive Sudoku because most games of our day surround themselves in violence, blood, etc which really isn't such a good thing.

And if you play the Gears of War series you have queer tendencies. (<---- this is a "joke")

My point exactly. I don't want people to appluad me for coming out or being gay when I walk down the street, holding hands with another guy. I don't even want them to notice any more than if I were to walk with a girl. It's just supposed to be that natural and normal.

Another thing I've found is people often look down on me for being bisexual. They simply can't understand it, they want me to be either gay or straight. I've even had a girlfriend break up with me after I told her, because she felt threatened by the notion. The way I see it, I'm not attracted to gender, I'm attracted to people. I don't have a particular preference when it comes to genders.

That is the most enlightening thing I've read in a very long time. So much simpler a concept.

Long thread is long. I read a lot of the responses but not all of them. I'm just going to state how I feel on the subject.

I have no problem with homosexuality in games. I do have a very big problem with it being shoved into the game simply for the sake of being there and generating controversy. Like anything else, there are tasteful ways to go about these things and there are just downright WRONG ways to go about *cough* Dragon Age 2 *cough*. Portray it "realistically" and not as something even homosexuals would shun and the most rabid homophobes will come to accept it as depth as opposed to disgusting and a waste of disk space.

Basically, if homosexuality is in your game and there is little/no media attention/controversy around it, you've probably done it right. The same goes for violence, sex, nudity and any other controversial subject. Just as important, you probably shouldn't feel the need to draw attention to that specific "feature", if its done tastefully it will be a seamless part of the game.

BioWare should really mess with gamer's heads on this one. Gamer's are sluts for big in-game item rewards - we'll go out of our way to grind for hours if it will give us an advantage in the next segment of the game. How about rewarding those who engage in a homosexual relationship with a really powerful gun? Something that the 'straight' players cannot get their hands on.

I await the shitstorm of a response
