I have seen a lot of bad feedback for DA 2. Haven't played it yet, still working my way through DA: O. It seems that the general consensus is that if you have played DA:O, DA2 will be bad. If not, you will like it. Any truth to this?

Anyway, to get back on topic, I think Bioware will listen to the feedback that they get for DA2. Look at what they did for ME2, just by listening to fan feedback.
    That's what she said.

    The Dork Knight.

I have played older classic games like Icewind Dale (old school rpg), and despite a lot of negative feedback, I actually enjoyed DA2. It all depends if you want to play action (hack 'n slash) game (DA2) or a proper RPG game (DA:O). The gameplay between DA:O and DA2 is huge. The story of Dragon Age Origins is also much better.

The dragon age series is just truly epic. It annoys me so much when people say that it sucks. YES Origins was waayyy better story wise, but you have to admit the combat in the second one is better for console gamers. I think a 3rd edition is amazing because this will give them the opportunity to combine the best of both. I think they should offer the option to change fighting styles in the 3rd one. The PC version of Origins was much better that the console version but with DA2 its the other way round, much more suited to the console. And i think that is what annoyed the pc gamers the most. it takes away there bragging rights. I have been to forum after forum where all you see if DA:O pc players completely disregarding DA:O console players and making there achievements look like nothing. Bioware could have the recipe for the perfect game. DONT SCREW IT UP BIOWARE!

I'm agree with mrpossible93. Bioware seems to experiment with their games and then listen to the criticism and combine the best with something new. They're never gonna make everyone happy.

I expected a medevil Mass Effect, now I'm forcing myself to finish Origins. Is the second one really that bad I would expect Bioware to take a step forward not backwards

Neither one is "hack-and-slash" (Titan Quest, Diablo, Dungeon Siege). DA2 is just much more of an action RPG (Witcher, Gothic, Two Worlds) than it is a cRPG (Planescape, Neverwinter Nights, Baldur's Gate).

But yeah, DA2 was epic weaksauce.

    For reference:
    Hack-and-slash RPG = over-the-top combat and skill/spell-spamming
    Action RPG = real-time combat
cRPG = tactical (usually pause-and-think) combat

At least that's the simplest way to tell them apart with dipping into talk of non-linearity, choice, dialogue, depth, story and character/class customisation
