When I was young and dumb I used to hitch hike from Simonstown with a friend. We would take the train one way and hitch hike back. We would only ever go in the back of open buckies so easy to jump out. Things generally felt safer back in those days.
I won't ever pick up a hitchhiker. ever. It's just to risky. In fact the more decent they look, the more I'm inclined to think they are some sort of psycho.
