That is what i am going to do as soon as the prices of the GTX580's come down.
True, that's my plan. Is that in the near future I would like to put a second card in. So my choice basically comes down to the AMD6970 or the GTX570...

The 570 is comparable to the 6970 with the 6970 achieving higher max framerates but the 570 has higher min and averages in most games.

http://www.tomshardware.com/charts/2...ndex,2673.html is usually a good gauge for most gamers. Although it doesn't show the min/ave too well, which is what is most important to me.
"multiplatform"... the word that ruins games for PC gamers.

From the link you have given, it seems that the GTX570 is pretty much on par with the 6970, not bad, when considering the GTX570 is a smidge cheaper. I am intrigued by this Physx thing, never really had a decent Nvidia card before. The one thing I see is that the 6970 has a load more shader cores.

You wont go wrong with the GTX570. Nvidia cards are really very good at the moment. I posted this in the GTX 590 thread aswell but it wont hurt if i put it here too: http://www.guru3d.com/article/vga-charts-spring-2011/3

@Frank: LOL, yes dude, how big is that heatsink? Geez! Awesome cooling though, damn!

@Xerosix: Yeah dude, I'd go for the higher bus width, obviously! One thing I've realised is that Nvidia is purposefully made for gaming . No problems with the new PSU either! Everythings going well. That card is just rocking the shit out of games at the moment.

Nah, I'm just going to keep it stock . I want to get an i7 soon, so I think I'll be OK. I might OC later, but for now, doesn't seem like its needed. Only thing OC'd at the time is my CPU.

Well, not the best in the land, but here goes:

Phenom II 965 BE OC to 3.8Ghz with Coolermaster V8.
    MSI 790FX-GD70 Motherboard
    4GB DDR3 RAM @ 1333 <--- :/ Upgrading that too when I get my i7

That's about all the noteworthy things. I'm thinking of getting the i7 2600k. Same as you again
