Its a full game in its own right, pretty much like every other "expansion" these days. People are happy to pay $60 for Mass Effect 1,2&3 or Call of Medal of Creed Wars (tm) 1-101 etc etc. It's a franchise market and its a the best way for any gaming company to make cash, so they can develop more games for us to play in the future.

I think the only mistake Blizzard is making though, is by having the restrictive WoL requirement.
