Intel motherboards

Is there anything wrong with playing games on a machine with an Intel motherboard?
I don't see them reviewed too often in magazines.

I may be upgrading my PC around an H67-based board at some stage [especially now that I have an extra R1000 to play with] and have seen that Intel-branded boards are often cheaper.

I'm not sure hey, I haven't checked up on Intel boards for a long time now. From what I remember you couldn't overclock your CPU if you bought an Intel board. And they didn't have as many features. But that was a while ago. Things may have changed since then.

Overclocking will never be an issue for me, as I don't like to take that risk. Besides, as far as I know, H67-based boards don't overclock [Unlike the P67] Features like USB 3 and a dozen SATA ports I can probably do without. Is there anything that you would consider essential that is missing from Intel boards?

I have an intel board, does what it says but thats it. Nothing really impressive about them though. Rather go Asus or something

What reason would you give for recommending any other brand given that the Intel board apparently does what it needs to do, which, at the end of the day, is all I require for my sporadic gaming habits. I don't see myself spending more than about R1300 on my next motherboard, and pairing that with an i5 2400.

Unless, that is, Bulldozer, convinces me otherwise.

Well since you have the extra cash to play with there are better motherboards like the Asus series compared to Intel. Asus are usually packed with a lot of features. The only reason why I went with the motherboard that I have is because I was a bit tight on money and the Intel board was the cheapest at the time.

Someone told me that the power regulation circuitary on ASUS, Gigabyte, etc motherboards tends to be superior to what Intel uses too.
