Jon Piazza. "We don't support the development of software by manipulating the existing Aibo software code - hacking it."
Look I get where you are coming from, I like the idea of modification just as much as the next guy, Hell I'm running Android Sense 3.0 on my desire.
But this is kind of standard practice for most companies. Very few companies allow their priority software to be tampered with. Sadly the law sides with these corporations (If due to legal standards or Monterey value/ gains) which gives the company the right to stop what they are believing would harm them, even if there is no real evidence that the hacking would impact the company in a negative or harmful way.
It's not ideal or just straight up bullshit, but that is the way it works in our world.
I did like this quote though Aibo owners are famous for their devotion to their Chihuahua-size robots, dressing them up like babies and holding events to show off the mechanical animals they swear develop personalities.
But lets be honest though, I hardly doubt that CDP Red looked at the above situation and have that actually influence their decision to port it to X360 and not PS3. At the end developers will go where the money is. It's more cost effective to port to the X360. Hell I imagine their engine has yet to be ported to work on PS3.
I'd also like to go back to your quote, I hardly think any sane person sees Sony as the 'white night', let alone try and convince people that Sony's intentions are ever good. Sony is corporation. Their solitary existence is to make money. You shouldn't assume that everyone is corporate shrill.
