To Pirate or not to Pirate

It can have an impact on prices, you need to understand that the developers need to have a plan in place to make a profit, piracy is included in their model, and they will counter the losses by increasing the price slightly.

Like I said, I have no problem with anyone pirating or downloading a few things, we're human and some things just aren't worth the price, and some things are impossible to find leaving piracy as the only real way to get what you need.

However I have an issue with the ones that do it constantly when they can afford to do things legitimately. I don't have money and yes I did have pirated ps1 and ps2 games which I'm giving to my girlfriend as they can't afford such luxuries in life. I can't afford ps3 games, but I buy 2nd hand to overcome this, even if I had a console which you could pirate, I still wouldn't

As mentioned in another thread - I've inherited my brother's dvd collection, which is sizable to say the least. It's actually quite cool to purchase classics to add to that collection now & I enjoy watching them on my 32" all the more now, so no real point in downloading movies...

However, I do enjoy watching series as much as the next man - and I don't see the harm in it if it's already been broadcast on national tv in another country. It's not like I'm reselling the episodes. *meh*

Well, I do pay for my games, and I try and buy CD's of artists I like, but truth be told, some of their songs are shit .. but you have to pay for the whole CD.

I hear what Voicy is saying about the series' and I agree with him, but I also feel like we are stealing from people who keep us entertained for hours at end, so, I am between a rock and a hard place.

I've slooooowly started buying the anime titles I like, but I doubt that I will ever have enough cash to cover all the pirated stuff, and, as you might suspect, I am not going to stop watching them because I can't pay for them :P

Then there is the 4000 odd mp3's I slap into a playlist while gaming which I would also have to pay for and then the normal stuff like Heroes, Star Trek, Stargate etc etc etc ...

I am depressed now ... I think I need to download some Bankai kick-ass action stuff to cheer me up again

Guilty as charged. I used to have a small library of ill-gottens gains, but destroyed it once I started working.

I do have a problem with the "I pirate because I cannot afford to buy games" justification.

Games and Gaming machines are luxuries. We don't need them, but they are nice to have.
If one cannot afford to buy software for whatever gaming device one happens to have splurged on,
one shouldn't be buying the aforementioned machine to begin with.

Just my opinion.

Me, I buy my games during sales or second hand and hardly ever rush out to buy a title as soon as it is released.

some games i have pirated because i dont want to bother with drm. and some of those games i have deleted because it is boring. (alone in the dark & spore)
