The gameplay video at E3 reminds me of Uncharted for some reason Finished the original tomb raider on the Sega Saturn and then Tomb Raider 2 on Playstation 1. Never played another since, mostly I think that the games industry changed and games changed (for the better) but Tomb Raider stuck to it's formula of pillar jumping and swan diving

Gameplay looks awesome though, hope there's some diverse action sections and different paths to choose from. Will just have to wait and see.
I read an article on that hey. The goal with new TR is not to sell games because she has the best digital boobs, but rather to sell copies because they want us to get to know Lara Croft on a personal level. They did demographic tests with the old Lara and the new one and when people looked at the old Lara 70-odd% all looked at her boobs, on the new Lara most of the people looked at her eyes. That is what the wanted to achieve with the new Lara. I personally I like the new look, those eyes and her hair are just moerse sexy !

The only thing that I'm gonna have to get used to is her new voice, I loved Keeley Hawes as the voice of Lara !

Instead of rebooting a series, why not just trash it and start under a new name and premise?!
I'm sorry?? Do you even play the games?? TR brought a new type of action-adventure game to gamers world wide! That is what TR is, not Uncharted, not CoD... Sure it's grown a bit stale a bit of late, it hit it's peak with Legend and then they just didn't try to build upon that.

And just what is wrong with a series reboot? Many games have done it before, and successfully at that! So I don't get why they should scrap it... Tomb Raider is the James Bond of gaming, it has and always will be around as long as gaming continues. She is an icon for gaming!

Just because she's not your cup of tea it doesn't mean that Crystal Dynamics should scratch the series .

Yes I played the first 2 or 3 with a friend way back then. On the PS1.
    Was fun.
Picked up a newer one some years ago. Pretty much seems like TR suffers from COD-syndrome.

Copy paste levels. Change the wallpaper. Make character do 1 extra acrobatics move or add 2 weapons (never both!!!). Print. Profit. Point. Laugh. Repeat.

Series reboots that were successful... Hmmm...
    Sonic? No.
    Mario? Nuhuh.
    Zelda? Ohhhh hell no!
    Need for speed? No thanks.
Final Fantasy? Yet another dead horse.
Pokemon? Wow what a reboot! PASS!!!

No game in the history of ever has had 10 main titles, 4 expansion, 4 spin-offs, 2 movies, an animated series, a comic book series, an interactive DVD and several porn titles dedicated to it; All the while managing to remain completely ridiculous for the last 10 years of its 14-year cycle...

Now you think rebooting it is going the right direction?
    What exactly is a reboot?
Press the button and everything that was wrong with it magically disappears?

Oh, you mean a re-write with the same characters, premise, story and locations?
Well in that case nothing has actually changed...

Sometimes it's just better to put the dead horsie down and leave him to decompose naturally.

Would I have liked the Contra and Syndicate series' to have continued? Some parts yes, and other parts plainly no. I peacefully let them go when they've worn out their life.

And please, don't refer to the worst "archaeologist" bimbo on the planet as a "cup of tea".
She has a shit long way to go before she can be rebooted into anything even closely resembling tasteful, or even human for that matter...

Yeah everyone's looking at her face 'cause it doesnt look like Lara thats why lol. The only thing that looks like Lara are her eyes, I think people are trying to find glimpses of the Lara they know in that girl. I understand the whole boob-thing though. And her voice sounds fine to me. It sounds younger and her old voice was a bit mature, not old, but confident and kind of wise-ass in a good way. She's obviously not that in this one.

Unless you have some hitherto unknown degree that qualifies you to judge my mental state whilst posting on a forum, exactly what claim or proof do you have of aforementioned mental state?

None? Because "such a degree and foreknowledge doesn't exist" you say?

Excuse me while I continue to find your behest of calmer waters laughably inaccurate as I continue (like I always do when on my PC or laptop) to draw slowly on my cigarette and sip softly on my coffee with a contented look upon my face as if some invisible hand is constantly stroking me.

But since we're now at the point where orders are seemingly barked at people (wrongly I might add), I shall continue the trend by barking back at you:
Sit down, its my opinion. While we're at it, doctor your own mental state before addressing others on theirs?
For never shall it be said that I break forum trends...

rofl at the Penis dude ...or whenis something like that , me thinks he could not get the tomb raider nude pack to work and that has scared him for life .

Lol at the translation of English to higher English , thing is there are some of here that are way smarter than you .Using BEEEEEEG words on a gaming forum may stroke your ego , but it makes you look like an ass .

If you were as educated as you implied (note I merely stated imply not actually are)by your choice of words and sentence structure you , would realise that any true gamer recognises the value of Lara and the TR series whose addition to gaming as a whole has helped redefined gaming and game design.

Rebooting is maximization on investment and brand recondition another concept you would understand if you were actually smart , the Billion odd TR fans out there will buy this game and will enjoy it , because its fresh and new take on a classic character ,
While you will still be behind your PC/laptop trying to be known as a intellectual on a GAMING FORUM ,TALKING ABOUT LARA CROFT .....HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA LOL LOL LOL

oh the stupidity of your arguments . if I didnt know any better I would swear your 12 and have just found daddy's book of big words.....

Tombraider on the PS1 ......lol that was the defining one yes aha.....

In parting I don't expect a response but I hope you do , who knows I may need another laugh tomorrow

    This FOR the Fans

Holy crap bro, did you girlfriend dump you?! Take it easy bro, we are having a conversation about TR not a fight .

Bro if you've only played a select few TR games then you don't really even have the right to make such accusations, only those that have played all/99% of all TR games can really comment on the subject. Do you know the history of Lara Croft? How she started off and became the legendary icon that she is today? Do you know why the games took a certain route that was against her creator's will? If you can answer me all these questions (Which anyone who has followed TR will know) then you are entitled to have this discussion. Which I don't think is the case.

Around 1995/96 (Can't remember the exact year development started) Toby Gard was working at a company called Core Design. Whilst working he started playing around with the idea of making an action/adventure 3D game. He started getting the fundamentals down on paper and when he realized that he was actually onto something he pitched the idea and Core Design made it an official project. Lara Croft originally started off as a hardcore military guy and eventually evolved into the Lara Croft we know and love. The thing about developing on the consoles back then was that certain features would be over exaggerated, that turned out to be the case with Lara's breasts. Core Design saw this and wanted to exploit this feature by including a nude feature in the game where you can play as Lara nude. Toby Gard hated the idea and said no, he was not willing to compromise on the character of Lara and what he wanted her to symbolize. When they released the game in '96 they honestly didn't think it would sell that well because the gaming industry at the time was dominated by male characters. But the route to go with a women was actually a gold mine for them! The game sold millions of copies worldwide! And what would you know, Lara's breasts were loved by all male gamers. Hence her breasts becoming a staple feature. After the release of Tomb Raider Toby Gard left the company. Core Design was determined to optimize Lara's sex appeal and Gard would either help them or leave. He decided to resign.

Now that is the moment Tomb Raider went down hill. Sure TR 2&3 were brilliant games but Core Design got out of hand and started portraying Lara as a sex symbol. She was doing shoots for playboy, the works. That is when story went out of the window and all that mattered was how bif they could make Lara's breasts. Then when Eidos got ownership of the Tomb Raider brand they brought back Toby Grad as a creative consultant (In actual fact he had control over the whole project). They started work on TR's reboot called Legend. MANY gamers world wide will agree that Legend was a bloody successful reboot of the series. It had a good story, and engaging story. It had beautiful graphics, varied locations plus we got explore that character that was Lara Croft. The Toby left Eidos after Legend's successful debut. Eidos the decided to do a reboot of the first TR game, so nothing new was brought to the table. Then we have Underworld. Underworld was a flop. Period. It had a horrible story and there was nothing engaging about it at all. The only think that was nice about Legend was the revamped engine, that's it. Why did the series fail before Legend and afterwards? Because they did not try and create the character that Toby Gard originally intended for Lara to be! They all focused on her sexuality and not her story.

Now they are trying to reboot the series to fit in a more modern age! Things have changed since drastically since the 90's! When you mention a new premise, story and locations I mean, seriously?! Doesn't any new IP choose the following and make it unique to their vision?? So OBVIOUSLY they will rewrite and examine those core concepts, I mean, they do make an IP after all! You can't have an IP without them. What would be your idea of a reboot then?? I interested to hear what you have to say...

Lara is evolving, changing to fit a modern audience. What made Lara so successful and unique? The tomb raiding, getting from one place to another via obstacles, her character and much more! So obviously they are going to change and adapt those things to fit into a more modern age with modern ideals.

Thats what i was thinking it like Tomb Raider meets Uncharted, an that is why it got my attension. The orignal tomb Raider were okay, but extremely criptic with very little charactor development... This one seems like Lara has fully dynamics, an is able to do more.... Game on the whole looks more awesome and i will be glad to pick this up if it continues to looka nd play the way the demo did.
