True but I'll believe it has power when the actuall specs start coming out and proving it.
As for gimmics, I personally think its a bit of a gamble on Nintendo's part. The touchpad thingy just seems very impracticle. And just imagine having to buy a replacement the first time your kid or someone drops that thing in the heat of gaming frenzy? I don't suppose a touchpad controller will come at a very affordable price?
Something else I also didn't mention is the lack of games Nintendo has been having on their present consoles, if that doesn't change and if they don't try to cater for more of a western culture then the Wii U will be a total failure.

Agreed. Can't picture those touchpad controllers coming in cheap and/or easy to replace/repair.
I would agree with your point on lack of games, except there isn't really a lack of games for the Wii. Just a lack of anything original.
Truly, every single Nintendo title of the last 10 years has just been rehash after rehash after rehash, of the same 3 or 4 tired and overspent IP's.
If they want some actual attention, they're going to have to do more than just play CoD with every single semi-successful IP they've ever had their grubby paws on...
Seems like they are bringing in more Big Name Developers...so seems like they agree with your wisdom to expand the gaming pool. To be honest that controller just looks weird. I really doubt that it would be a PS3/Xbox killer. The original Wii had a good niche in the market in my opinion...aimed at younger kids! If they become a "serious gaming console" they better bring their A-Game.
