Again. How could they even think of applying the same methodology taking Mass Effect -> Mass Effect 2, and doing it to a game like DA:O? The game does not lend itself to ACTION damnit! Bah! Leave well enough alone and let a RPG BE a RPG!
Yup, lost fans indeed. I still haven't played DA2, but the general opinion from people who have played it is bad. Will still give it a shot for myself before I get a solid an opinion on this.
They were warned repeatedly on their forums that this direction is not going to work for their hard core rpg fans but chose to ignore the countless comments...Now the chickens have come to roost and they don't like the results. They only reason for all these apologies is because their idea of aboning their traditional fans in an attempt to attract the action gamers blew up in their face.
Its pretty pleasing that old school dao outsold da2 by some distance...
Lesson to learn its not smart to neglect your core market...
I think they should have renamed the title to something else (other than DA2), to avoid dissapointing the hardcore rpg fans. The story wasn't great, but I still enjoyed the game. Gameplay duration was also just right.
