    Not a smart move imo.
    But whatever Nintendo, mush on!
Just keep cracking those whips until your company just blatantly refuses to continue existing!

Very bold move - However, money speaks and a cheap powerful console may see people buying it. One of the reasons the Wii console has done so well. I reckon the PS3's biggest selling point is it's blu-ray drive. I know I facted that in when buying a console.

If I ever stop gaming - my PS3 will still have a use to me.

Bold move, but yet their consoles have sold well over the generations. I don't think it's a bad move, they know their first party launch games is what will make their consoles sell.

For Example: Whats the use of having Blu-ray in your console and everyone buys it for the Blu-ray aspect, but you are making a loss on each console sold? The mayority of the money Sony receives are from companies who make games on their consoles. As Sony, you don't want people buying your console but then just use it for Blu ray, you want them to buy games which will keep the developers happy and develope on the console and more money for you(as Sony).

That is unfortunate. The Wii also did not have that functionality. I guess Nintendo's consoles are more focused on gaming than media entertainment. Even the 3DS/DS/DSi does not have an equal product to the PSP's UMD ROMs. I don't mind it though, I have other appliances to watch that stuff on.
    That's what she said.

Nintendo must be doing something right if they are planning to release the WiiU. Being a cheaper platform it is most suited for their younger audience or people that don't need Blu-rays etc., and only want to play games.

Its all about attracting the right market. Why fight it out with Sony and MS when you can catch a huge portion of the market for yourself. (younger/casual market). A couple of years later Sony and MS realise the potential in that market and accommodate for it (Move and Kinect) and straight away, BAM, Nintendo claims the crown for that market once again by announcing their new console. What do you think the 5 year old kiddies will want? Brand new console or a 5-6 year old Sony/MS console with Move/Kinect?
