I just use the cheapie that Cybersmart gave me when I applied for ADSL. And I'm totally happy with it. What does the brand of router actually do? Do the better routers give better speed and performance?

I love my NetGear. On my third one now, thanks to Lightning.... Cheap price for good modem
Not a preference, just have a Billion router.
Billion 400G bought from the Telkom Direct store.. a bit of hefty price for it, but then again i didn't want Telkom support blaming my 'foreign' router if i needed support for some or other issue. Works perfectly fine anyway.
I asked around a lot before I bought my Netgear modem and most people recommended them. Poll results seem to confirm the good reputation
