Finished His Dark Materials. Characters were phenomenal, and the writing was excellent. The last 4 chapters had me crying a little bit because of how well Pullman manages to evoke the correct emotions in his readers. Plot-wise it wasn't that good. The big reveal and the explanations of Dust and how all the universes work together, and what the grander scheme is of all that's been discussed in the novel - whether fictional or symbolic - made certain major aspects of the story seem severely unimportant and impractical. So what every key part of the series was working to, was eventually a letdown. His Dark Materials was still better than most trilogies I've read recently, but it had so much potential to be so much greater.

Also, A Dance With Dragons Tomorrow. Fucking pinch me.
