Duke Nukem Forever review (PC) - MyGaming
The king is back, but he’s ten years too late

Good review and quite right. I think had GearBox been able to do DNF from the ground up we would be seeing a different review :)

Only two things to add:

Nostalgia-based memories of games should be left alone to die in our overactive minds.
Nothing good comes off these remakes...

Then I suppose Monkey Island HD is a fluke, right ?

Not a fluke. Just EXTREMELY rare.
Funny thing - I still haven't played HD... I'm just way too weary of destroying my memories of the "good 'ol days".

And while I am fully aware that Contra was never as cool as my mind tells me it was, that's exactly where it needs to stay.

I would rather leave my pleasant memories of my favorite games alone to fester in my brain, than to try and revive them into some sort of possibly ugly and putrid zombie abomination.

I can haz mah moniez back plx?

Can't believe I fucking paid for this game. Wish I waited and pirated it. What a joke of game.

And yes I played Duke 3D way back when. :(

You know if suckbox... I mean Gearbox had completely REDONE Duke Nukem 3D. It would have been the best thing since Counter-Strike.

Buuuut it's a totally rushed piece of shit that should burn in hellfire!!

I always thought with the amount of developer and engine changes DNF had gone through, it would struggle to really deliver. It's a shame, but at least the game which lead to the creation of the term 'vaporware' has now been released.

I saw this over the weekend on PS3. A friend bought it. I felt sad for the money he wasted....Duke blows, sorry....it's 2011 not 1998 FFS...I'm sure they couldve come up with a better game, and not the same old lame late-80s-early-90's action-hero shyte...

Dude... that's what Duke IS... That's the character, it wouldn't be Duke if it wasn't over the top and cheesy.

err Rushed ! dude development took place over a period of almost 15 years (DNF definately sucks but it was not rushed m8)

@Dohc-Wp - Lol you're funny, 14 years in the making, like they were sitting 14 years behind computers developing the game. do some research buddy, this from Wiki, was only officially reported by 2k games that its in development 3 September 2010, for that short period of development the guys had until the released date, i got more than enough for my R300 i spent :)

On September 3, 2010, after 14 years, Duke Nukem Forever was officially reported by 2K Games to be in development at Gearbox Software.[9] It was originally confirmed to be released on May 3, 2011 in North America, with a worldwide release following on May 6, 2011.[10] This was, however, delayed by a month to June 10 internationally, with a North American release on June 14. On May 24, 2011, it was announced that Duke Nukem Forever finally "went gold" after 15 years.[11][12] After going gold the launch trailer for Duke Nukem Forever was released on June 2, 2011.[13]

IF you have a brain BIG ENUF to process properly then you will know that duke nukem forever was announced in 1997 (i still have a copy of SACM from back then to prove it) 3d realms have developed various version of the game on various different game engines over the past 12 years, when gearbox took over the Duke IP (INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY) from 3d realms the game was about 80% complete. all gearbox (alongside triptych games former 3d realms employees) did was polish the game to a finished product fit for release!

So to sum it up !
1. USE YOUR BRAIN and not wikipedia
2. You JUST MADE a fool of yourself
3. Go back to school and learn how to use your tiny little brain.
