I'm also looking at following this route withing 5 years, but haven't really started anything yet.

I've got a buddy of mine who immigrated, cost him about R50000 for all the permits and paperwork and all that other nonsense. That's a bit steep, but then again he isn't 2nd generation European, which I am as well.
    R12K for the flights
R20K as a bit of capital
Visa is free since I'm married to a EU resident.
Moving all our shit over... Anything from R14K-R20K. Luckily that is only happening once we have our own place and are earning GBP.
Since we are staying with Family till we get on our feet which is a massive load off.

That's a huge burden gone not having to cover housing and that right off the bat. And work wise, you already got potential opportunities? Would seem risky moving without being certain of the opportunities. But then again, it isn't SA, so they would probably come plentiful compared to here.

    All the best man.

Damn right! I know crime can be bad here and it is definitely a factor to consider, but the UK is not SA. Miserable people, miserable weather, miserable place. I've often thought about it and I can't actually think of anywhere in the world that beats SA for a lekker place to live, crime not withstanding. But even crime, hell it happens everywhere and more than you think.

If you are able to get a job abroad will that company help you with your immigration?
