Cynical answer, it didn't sell well so they need to supplement sales.

They should have rather ported Red Dead Redemption, L.A. Noire is completely overrated. I bought it on release day and couldn't even be bothered to finish it, it just bored me endlessly. It's not often I don't finish a game I started, especially not one I bought on release day. It just keeps repeating the same boring pattern over and over again; just play the first two hours, mutliply that experience by ten and then you've played the whole game. You could always read the Wikipedia article if you want to know what happens in the plot.
Not to be a party pooper or anything () but my excitement over this game has passed, especially after the initial "Fuck you!" from Rockstar making it a console exclusive. I think the only game I will still buy this year will be BF3. And maybe Human Revolution.
I feel the same way. There is an overwhelming feeling that Red Dead Redemption is an excellent game. Looking at reviews proofs this. As for L.A. Noire it seems decent. CZC, you make a valid point.
