The reply editor doesn't work so well with Firefox 3 anymore. I'm downloading Firefox 5 now to see if that fixes it. I don't remember the auto-save feature from before, so maybe there's been some updgrades lately, perhaps using HTML5?
EDIT: Ah, that's much better. If you're having problems, try update to the latest version of your browser

Actually I'm having this same problem in Chrome.

Had this issue a few weeks back. Cleared cache and fixed it.
