Unless console games are coded better for online play, playing on an int server will be worse off lag wise. So if they have placed some local servers then online gaming with the PS3 would be much better and easier.

The way ernstn was talking you'd think that the PS3 was indestructable. Of course the numbers are disgusting. Didn't say they they weren't. Hell, those numbers were the reason I didn't buy an Xbox till two months ago.

RROD won't be a problem for me.

Totally get a new HDD. Hell for the price of a new PS3 you could buy 10 new 500GB 2.5 inch drives.

I actually read the PS3 manual now, and it's piss easy to upgrade your PS3.
Well I think the coding for a console could be different cause there are only International servers available. Lets see, with Resistance 2 you have a 60player Team Deathmatch and my bro and I done it co-op without a problem and this on a 384 line, even with our crappy upload speeds the lag is quite minimal from what I experinced and many players will agree. The most lag I've experienced was from COD4 international and games like Street Fighter IV and Tekken 5 DR where you have to have a host to play. Of course a local server would pawn all and I got no idea what the progress of having one over here.

Yes Ernstn wording may have been a little off with his wording but I think what he meant was he doesn't have to play in constant fear of his console just giving up on him. You lucky to start out with a Jasper unit but the uninformed are still buying the earlier models.

I personally think having dedicated servers as hosts is better than hosting a game yourself. So for me, the PS3 has got the edge in that regard.

As far as I am aware off upgrading your PS3 harddrive will not effect your warranty.

PS: You can always keep the old drive and reinstall it before returning the faulty PS3.

You are allowed to upgrade the hard drive, no worries. They even include instructions for it in the manual.

yeah Hard drive upgrade on the PS3 is a feature. Why do you think they made it so easy?

*it even states on the PS3*

Remove this cover when removing the hard disk.

Oh oh oh!!! I have something. It took the xbox 3 years to get native HDMI support. PS3 has had it from the get go. The PSU is actually INSIDE the console. And we get a wireless controller with the console, don't have to buy one for R599.

If you buy a xbox arcade to have it on the same level as the PS3 would cost you:

    1x wireless controller = R599
    1x Harddrive (you do get 40GB more) = R2000
    1x VGA/HDMI cable thingy = R599

That's R3200 you spent extra and you still don't have wireless, and can only watch dvds.

    Screw the failbox, PS3 wins

spoken like a true factless fanboi

the xbox pro is the default xbox sku and since launch it came with a wireless control i know since i'v had a 360 since launch.
the xbox got hdmi exactly a year after launch (which proves you dont know jack S**T)
The arcade comes with a wireless control the DISCONTINUED core didnt (so i have proven you wrong again)
atleast when the xbox psu fails you can buy a new one instead of getting a new console !
the ps3 got dualshock almost 2 years after launch lol ! (so much for something that was ahead of its time)
ps3 had a big harddrive yet you couldnt use it due to mandatory gigabyte game installs
oh and bc (oh wait new ps3 cant play ps2 games lol)

yet the funny thing is you pay more to play games that look worse !

I am having difficulty understanding what you are saying in the above sentence.
If, as you are suggesting, one could not use the PS3 hard disk, then where exactly were these multi-gigabyte installations done.

I think you do have a point with respect to obligatory installation though: I believe some of these can take a while. Not really what one wants with a console now is it?

Could you provide examples of those games which cost more and look worse?
Could this not perhaps be a matter of shoddy porting where the game was originally written for the Xbox360, for example, rather than a shortcoming of PS3s hardware?
I understand that God of War 3 and Killzone 2 don't look half bad. To illustrate this further, there have been horrendous ports of console titles to the PC, but the fact that they might look like a blurry mass of low resolution textures does not mean that the R3500 graphics card I have in my machine is rubbish.
