Post CryEngine 3 equal to CryEngine 2 'medium' settings, reveals comparison video

CryTek's newest, shiniest piece of tech is CryEngine 3, which will be put to use in the upcoming PS3 and Xbox 360 versions of Crysis 2. While the first footage of the console versions looks remarkably similar to what you'd get from a PC, a closer examination reveals how top-end gaming PCs are still capable of rendering better graphics with CryEngine 2. According to tehdaza on YouTube, "CryEngine 3 running on console hardware is about the same as CryEngine 2 running on 'medium' settings." The look of the console versions can be recreated on the PC by using low textures, high shaders and object geometry and medium on all other settings.

I still think that the entire Cry Engine is Uber Unoptimized, Behind the Scenes Money under the table Hardware Vendor deal making piece of crap.

Looks good but that's about it.

I don't know Maplassie. It was unoptimized when it was used in Crysis but it looks like they optimized it with Crysis Warhead.

It still remains the prettiest game I've ever played.

It is pretty yes. But, check even how very high end rigs struggle with it. With stuff that Patches could easily sort out, but are left untouched to force the rich fanboys to upgrade.

Granted Warhead ran better than The original, but The game can perform better, while looking good.

The game does look good yes. BUT. If a game can't run high Settings on 4GIG's supertweaked ram, An Overclocked GTX260 and a Quad Core Cpu, with very smooth framerates, then in my opinion it's unoptimized.

It's a conspiracy, it really is.

yeah dude. Look UT3 doesn't have the vast open areas that Crysis has, but dude. Gorgeous game, awesome FPS even on lower specced rigs.

    Cause Epic Rocks.

Crytek gets a cut from every Nvidia card sold to manufactureres Iam telling you now.

    Also from Intel.

HAs anybody ever stopped to think about this:

IF a developer makes a game that only runs good on your NEXT upgrade, what are they using to develop it then ?

    That's why I said, CON-SPI-RA-CY.

WE end users, consumers, we get 2-3year old hardware, and I don't care who says what I know I am right. WE are just fed little bit at a time, so they make more money.

I installed Crysis again yesterday and boy is it stunning even after all the titles I've played in the interim. It runs quite well on high settings and I wouldn't go so far as calling it unoptimised because you get a return on investment unlike some games (Saints Row 2) that look rubbish and run like a dog on the exact same system. I said from the beginning that Cryengine 3 was more like Cryenginge 2.5, but here it seems more like a 1.5.
