I said from the beginning that Cryengine 3 was more like Cryenginge 2.5, but here it seems more like a 1.5.
    Heya mate!
How many years down the line are you finally running Crysis on acceptable settings. That's what I mean. The engine was developed to run good for hardware that only came about a year to 18 months later. Forcing ppl to upgrade, whereas it could have been achievable by patching

Well when it was released I had to play it on medium and it was maybe two months before I could play it on high, but you must remember that I COULD play it on medium just fine, if I really had to have the fancy high quality graphics then it makes sense that I'm going to need to spend a little on an upgrade. You get what you pay for, it runs on lower end systems if you're willing to sacrifice some eye candy, no one is forcing anyone to play it on high .

Yeah it's true , but If you looked at my system specs back then, and alot of my overclocker mates, our rigs far surpassed the recommended spec for high detail, yet I could not run it Ultra High detail using that setup, wich consisted of 2 behemoth 8800GTS 640 cards in Sli.

True no one forces you to play on high or ultra high, But one would expect that a game that comes out in the "current generation" runs well with all the bells and whistles turned enabled if you atleast have above average "current generation" hardware. As you said yourself 2 months later with an upgrade you were only able to play it high. I ran it on 2x 8800GTS 640's and yeah it was playable on ultra high, but it wasn't what you would expect from a system housing 2 such awesome (for their time) cards.

So Why am I driving patching and unoptimizing home? I will go google the name now, just before the launch of Crysis Warhead, there was a little mod/patch made by the community for Crysis 1. It enabled all the DX10 features and Ultra High detail settings even on WinXP, best of it all it allmost caused no drop in FPS whatsoever, not even on medium specced systems.

Something crytek "wouldn't" do as there are ppl out there willing to fork out R6000 just to enable some tickmarks in their games

Cryengine 2 is a cinematic game engine. 23.976 FPS is considered to be the best way to play the game. Even on it's lowest settings cryengine 2 does 10 times more than any other engine out there currently, maybe not unigine..

It is a hallmark to pc gaming. And btw I run it @ 1920x1200 everything on Very High except particle something and no aa and I get 49FPS average. 73 Max.

Ah yes Map, I used that mod a while back and it was quite an achievement. I agree there that Crytek should have been able to do what a few unpaid modders could.
