    Sorry for the console users....
The PC users will hopefully not have this problem...

Is it just me or does anyone else not care about frame rates that much? To be perfectly honest, I have never gone and checked what the frame rate of my current games are. I suppose that there are some people that are interested in that though. Will still be getting BF3 though...
    That's what she said.

Depends on your setup I guess. In theory 30fps should be fine since things like movies run at 24fps. For me personally, as long as a game runs at 60fps I'm happy. For some reason 30fps just doesn't feel the same for me as 60fps does.

Lower framerates are OK when you are observing (movies). It does affect the quality of the controls though. There was a long article a while ago measuring the latency between user input and visual response at the different frame rates. 120hz (120FPS) offered the best response time, but we are talking a few milliseconds here so most people (even most pro level gamers) wouldn't be able to notice a worthwhile difference between 60FPS and 120FPS.

There is a VERY substantial jump in response time between 30FPS and 60FPS. The best real world example I have of this is Dead Space 1. The games "vertical sync" option was "bugged" (more like hard coded). When enabled, the frame rate would be locked to 30FPS instead of the screens refresh rate, the option was also enabled by default. Many people would tell you that the mouse control in Dead Space 1 felt like you were dragging something instead of having 1 to 1 "point and click" control. Disable vertical sync in the game and magically the "dragging" control problems vanish.

I do think it is 99% more noticeable with a mouse than with analog sticks. A mouse you expect very rapid 1 to 1 movement and if that is compromised slightly it just feels broken. Analog sticks have a more "aligning different planes" kind of feel to them, and that feel isn't greatly affected by the 30FPS control latency, at least to me and most people it seems. You can actually see this for yourself by playing Dead Space 1 on PC with a 360 controller and switching vsync on and off a few times. Vsync off it does feel more responsive, Vsync on it feels slightly less responsive but certainly not hindering or game breaking like it does with a mouse.

Funny enough, I don't really care about this 30fps debate. I bet I'll probably enjoy BF3 anyway.
