All I can say is good luck to them. I foresee the 5th of November to be as usual as ever...

i would like to point out that no year was given - 5th November 20--, which does mean that should facebook still be around on the 6th November, well then the attack didn't fail it was just planned for next year.

I personally wish that anon would crash facebook so bad, that they revert back to a more basic and simple interface with less spam

If you look at the Anonymous attacks so far you will notice that they like to rub salt in the wounds and make an attack as embarrassing as possible for the victim. Chances are that they already pwn some of the Facebook infrastructure and already prepped their attack by planting backdoors, hacking admin passwords and copying off user account databases. By announcing a future date it would seem that they are giving the victim advance warning to fix their systems. If the victim still gets hacked even though they have been warned it will be so much more embarrassing. Anon will not make such a statement that could ruin their reputation if their ducks are not in a row. They will probably compromise 1 server on the day but upload to Pastebin a couple of gigs of personal user account info they already have. Such an act would be devestating to Facebook since so many people in the world are on Facebook. A complete Facebook user account leak would dwarf the Sony hack and cost them an arm and a leg just for identity theft protection.

Maybe. It would be interesting to see how people kept themselves amused or lived their lives without FB. I think many will be totally freaked out if it were wiped out for a day or two.
