    According to this ..
    http://www.bgr.com/2011/08/17/sony-c...-price-to-249/

Sony announced on Tuesday that it is lowering the price of its 160GB PlayStation 3 console to $249, down from the console’s original $299 price tag. In addition, Sony will now sell the 320GB version of the PlayStation 3 for $299 instead of $349. The Japanese consumer electronics firm also dropped the price of the system in Japan and in Europe. The move is likely an effort to tackle Microsoft’s Xbox 360 console, which has been the best-selling console in the United States for past seven months according to the latest data from The NPD Group. Recent rumors have suggested Sony is already working on the PlayStation 4, which could launch as soon as next year to compete with Nintendo’s Wii U and Microsoft’s next-generation Xbox.

    160GB PlayStation 3 - $249 - R1,764.46
    320GB PlayStation 3 - $299 - R2,118.77

I guess we can add some import fees , I "guess" that means 320GB PS3's are going to go for the R2700 range?

That's a good price. About a month or two ago, I saw Reggies advertising a 160 GB Slim PS3 plus free game for R2500.

Makes resale value of your old ps3 even lower. My friend wanted to sell his and with these price cuts he has no chance. Its good though since i want a 2nd one to be my 'virgin' and the other to do you know what to it....

It's to bad the big boys (ie. incredible corruption, etc) don't play ball and try to match these prices

Yes and those who don't know any better always flock to these stores and pay the inflated prices.

For once I didn't buy something before a better or cheaper one came out.
Last year I baught a XBOX360 elite a month before the slim came out for exactly the same price. I went for the XBOX then because it was a bit cheaper than the PS3 and had more titles.
With this price cut I am a bit more inclined towards adding a PS3 to my TV cabinet.
Nothing is permitted, everything is true.

You should rather convert from the euro because that's what price in SA is based on.

Buy the PS3... if you wait for the next best thing, you'll always be waiting...

I paid R5000 for my 80GB about 2 years ago... but I must say, it's the best 5 large I've spent in a while.. my PS3 is on from when I get home at 5:30-ish until 23:00-ish when I go to bed. I never play games, but the PS3 combined with PS3 Media Server is what makes Gansbaai lekker!
