Some Battlefield 3 hand-on info

In the article, they mention how big the maps are, and that lone soldiers blend into the surroundings, which is what makes the role of recon so important, i.e. spotting. When I first started BC2 spotting was nice, esp if there was a sniper hiding somewhere taking you out over and over, but recently I haven't found a local server with spotting. I get that the game is more "hardcore" without spotting, and its still a ton of fun, but doesn't that change the nature of how the game is balanced. Recon is not Recon anymore, its Sniper.

So I hope there's at least a few servers for BF3 with spotting on. Is there a local BC2 server with spotting? Sometimes I join some, and on the loading screen it says 3D Spotting : ON, but it's not.

Most servers will be on normal mode. Hardcore isn't really the default gamemode. Don't sweat it.

I would say authentic rather than "realistic". After all they know it's still a game.
