I know some people will "pass" on turnbased games ,
but I used to love turnbased strategy games.
Not to compare this to chess but you need to make every move count and you need to make the most of what you have on the battle field. Part of this is knowing the limitations of the units the opponent is playing with.
The last game remotely like this was rage of mages , I loved that game.
Definately looking forward to Warlock.
Age of Wonders II plus it's expansion are still favourites when it comes to turn-based strategy games, looks like this may be a viable alternative.
Rage of Mages...was that turn based? Or am I thinking of Rage of Mages 2 that wasnt turnbased?
Heroes III definitely one of my all time favourite games. Heroes 1 was one of the first colour games I ever played. This sounds great. One of the down falls I always felt about Turn based strategy is they can never quite get the right level of complexity (for me personally). I find civilisations TOO complex (with a lot of factors I'm not interested in) and Heroes (often a little to simple).
Kings Bounty was about one of the best TBS games I ever played. unfortunately the difficulty curve was INSANE and I got quite depressed having to replay battles over and over.
