So yes, fans are fickle. It's sort of comes with being a fan.
I agree that people become fans because of a certain piece of work, and that if work of the same quality (read: Phantom Menace) is not produced further on then fans get agitated. Trust me, I'm a big fan of the original Star Wars series.

Why I'm arguing that fans are fickle is because something like Darth Vader now screaming "NOOOOOO" where he was silent before, does not really alter the story in anyway. Sure, it probably doesn't make it better. But it's not destroying the SW legacy. It really isn't such a big deal. Ask yourself if you would have enjoyed Star Wars less had Darth Vader's "NOOO" been included in the original. If Lucas thinks the "NOOO" fits the story better now, then I think he has license to change it. It's not like it's a game-changing event - just a new cinematic feature.

What I want to now is why add something in that really does not need to be there? Like they say less is more.

Yeah, why? Good question. Does it have such a great impact that raging should ensue? No.

I feel this just takes a certain bit of imagination out of the ordeal. Darth Vader has always been a faceless character so we "read" our own imaginings into his emotions. I feel that the scope of his personality has been narrowed to a point where it makes him look feeble.

However, I'm not a huge fan of the Star Wars series, but I am a huge fan of the Star Wars lore, philosophies and back-stories, so take what I have to say about this with a pinch of salt

The original Star Wars had Jabba played by a man because he didn't know how to put in a big slug. This was left out of the final film. When he remade it in 1997 he put in the slug that appeared in episode 6. This was certainly one of the instances where it enhanced the film.

Of course not all changes will be welcomed by everyone.

I get why people get upset , for some people changing things in starwars would be like setting a bible on fire.
George made it , he should just leave it alone now.

On a side note , myth busters have proven that it is possible to polish a turd ,
this is how ever no dung so he should stop with the polish.

If it aint broke dont fix it.

I'll be getting the popcorn and watching from the sidelines.

As long as they don't change Enemy at the gates I'm happy.
    I'd rather be playing ChronoTrigger...

Hence we read his emotions and not him going all edward on us. Next thing we know we will have a sparkling vader.

Also the thing of han now shooting not first and the bounty hunter that was tweaked to shoot first in the initial bar scene.

LG is just one of those people who would be never happy with something, and that something must always be "made better" at each iteration. Classic/old flicks are for good as they are, this is why I prefer the original theatrical cuts on a previous dvd release over the "fixed" ones.

When we get another technology, take good bet that GL will yet again find something that is "broken" and needs to be "fixed"
