Thread: PC gaming is dead? Really? (Column)

When It comes to hardware, the average PC is above any console without a doubt. I am also a PC fan to the end, I don't even own any type of console, cause I have just always found the PC more enjoyable. It does usually come down to personal preference.

Pirating is also a all round problem not just a PC gaming problem.

There have also been some interesting sales figures of late. Show PC gaming on a slow incline, as opposed to the view of a decline.

    Nice read!

IMHO, I own a pc, 360 & ps3, and as some of you mention, some games are just meant to be played on consoles & pc's.

I can't imagine myself playing racing games on the pc, and rpg's on the console.

So we all need to accomodate each other and live in peace...

Pretty sure this topic came up before and I say again that PC gaming will never die as long as people are buying the PC games and Gaming Laptops/PC's.

I love being Captain Obvious here but the people saying PC Gaming is dead were spewing the gall via a PC.
Thats right , dont tell me you were typing it from a ps3 / xbox , damn console kiddies.
I own both the ps3 and the xbox360 , and i do most my gaming on the pc.
NO control in a shooter will ever come close to the accuracy of a keyboard and mouse.
So unless they make better input devices the console kiddies should go to sleep.

Ive played Heavy Rain and am FRUSTRATED by the console control system ,
in cut scenes you need to press the right button on the right second or your character dies and you need to replay the chapter.

Also console kiddies seem to forget that their consoles are slim line pcs , running motherboard with hard drives and graphic cards .

So to everyone saying pc gaming is dead , go look at how many games are on steam of the PC ,
and not forgetting that unlike console games , you can find a way to play every single pc game ever created.
    thats ALOT of gaming.

Seeing i have both consoles these kiddies play , I can say this knowing fully well what im talking about.
The only challenge for gaming programmers when coding for PC is to code with compatibility in mind,
where with the console , you only have a limited set of hardware you need to code for.

PC Gaming is not dead , and with the ever growing base of games out there , no console will ever surpass the PC's range of games it can play.
In the next 5 years the next xbox / play station will come out , older games will stop working on them like it has with the normal xbox and ps2/ps1 , and guess what ? ALL MY OLD STUFF WILL STILL PLAY EVEN IF I UPGRADE MY PC !

(Yes I might need to emulate some stuff , heck I can even emulate old arcade titles on the pc)

So console kiddies , youre a bunch of noobs , stfu and go to sleep.

    *rant over*

Um Let's not forget that pc gaming also drives the machine that is new, faster, better hardware..which in the end will get used to build the next generation of consoles. So LOL at the console fanboy's

On a serious note though, Console gaming has some things going for it, Playing guitar hero with mates while drunk is just something you can't do on a pc Well you can but come on..lol Then there is the lazy gamer...Someone that just wants to plonk there lazy butts down and just chill a bit while jamming some tekken or forza ( I am one of those ).
People also seem to forget where console games get developed...or I should say what format they are developed on xD

    PC GAMING FTW!!!!!!!!

I think that once gaming laptops become a little more affordable PC gaming will really kick consoles ass...

Can you take your console with you? what is that you say? You need to buy a PSP quick. LOL!

Definitely going to be aiming at buying a seriously badass gaming notebook next year...mwahahaha

gaming needs the pc. I prefer consoles for various reasons but Im not going to be an idiot and say the console is better. The PC is a superior gaming platform, all the facts are there.
