A modern LAN gamer's checklist

My bigger concern about the LAN checklist these days are the games.
We use to have huge Unreal Tournament LANs, Dota LANs, COD MW LANs, but very few of the new games support LAN play. If you are all just gonna clog up the same internet line its much easier and cheaper to just game from home.

Not enough games still have the LAN option. Its frustrating and it is killing my LAN hobby.

I agree... one thing that the okes who arranges ours is also to tell the guys what games and on what versions they need to be....

Its always a case of 3/4 of the okes sitting installing and updating games for the first 4 hours of a LAN session. Not to mention that the oke next to me is having issues with his Windows and needs to quickly reinstall..

that is one of the main reasons I dont go to LAN parties anymore, if you wanna do it, do it right!

oh and alchohol is a MUST!!!! Specially with my friends

agree on the similar versions of the game
balanced meal - mid lan braai?
what about a good anti virus and making sure that everyone does a proper virus scan with a decent program the evening before?

checklist goes something like this for a big lan:
- pc and all the bits / cables that go with it
- 2 changes of clothes
- the basic toiletries (toothbrush/paste/loo paper (never go unprepared)/deo/soap)
- Towel (never leave home without a towel)
- pillow (to sit on)
- 2 giant pillows (they make a sufficient mattress to sleep under desk), pillow and duvet to sleep
- cooldrinks / energy drink
- winegums
- chips
- making sure all games are installed/current and everything up to date


Checklist for house lan
- pc and all bits
- meat for braai
- booze / cooldrink
- towel (incase of emergency of swimming)
