Probably trough steam as with blops via a private lobby. They will never provide offline LAN functionality, COD4 was the last of it's kind.

We should thank BF3 for this last minute decision, and even for the DS; that wasn't even an option in the beginning. Pure pressure. Still gonna play the crap out of both titles.
