See I was just suprised that they fixed our issue so fast. Apparently I live juuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuust 5 blocks to far from the whatchamacallit to get 4mb. . .

Since we upgraded the line the phone was crackling so badly that we couldnt use it to phone anyone. And since we live in a cell tower shadow unless your standing on your head on the 4th brick to the left of the swimming pool and dont breathe you can use your cell . . . I ended up phoning from work.
    Thanks..

If you are too far from the exchange the line will become unstable. But thing is hey, my dsl line has been working absolutely great for 5 years before this kak decided to start now. Not ideal. I'll just report it to our service center again so they can deal with Telkom and hound them 24/7. I think that's how I got them to come out last time. Service providers in this country....

It'll be a little thing that looks something like this

You plug that into the phone line, then it splits into one plug for ADSL, and one for phone. It takes the noise out of the phone signal

I had the same issue once we got a 4mb line and we less the 2km for the exhange

The techie found the problem and it turns out often the alarm system the connects to the phone line causes this issue and cause noise on the line which in turn causes the line drop, a techie was very helpful and came and fixed it and now i have a 6mb line which is awesome, Wynvern phone telkom, ask for a techie to come out and assist, im betting you DO have an alarm system in the house?

I will have to get us 3 then asap. I know we dont have those on the plugs.

Oh I didnt know that Ogz, I will then try and organize a techie again. We have a couple of alarm systems in the house - normal one on doors and such and beams outside the house.

Yep and also electric fences apparently affect the line also. I think it is any static field by the line.
