I got myself a 4850 and love it. After years of using Nvidia cards the pricing and performance of the 4850 definitely won me over and I am now saving so that I can add another one and get some Crossfire love going. My one concern with the card is that it was running very hot without any overclocking done to it (up around 90 degrees), I bought an aftermarket cooler and it now purs at a nice cool 35 degrees
I wanted to try rivtuner and other solution but the newer ati drivers have the ability to set your Fan Speed in the CCC in overdrive.
Glad your solution worked but I was too poor to buy something like that.
