I give thee exhibit A.
Now i expect Teryarch to screw us over but Infinity... NEVAR!Now this is how you do a special edition. Activision and Infinity Ward look to be going all out for its Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 "Prestige Edition," with not only the usual accoutrements like a special casing and an art book, but also what is described by Community Manager Robert "fourzerotwo" Bowling as a "fully functioning NVGs -- night vision goggles." No idea how well they work, but it's got alternating modes and MW2 branding. That's pretty awesome, but we gotta imagine it's gonna demand a pretty penny -- this is definitely more than that $80 "collector's edition" for $80 GameStop is currently listing. You won't be able to get your actual hands on the game until November at the earliest, so in the meantime, hit up the read link to get a glimpse of the "official" unboxing.
I have a question. Will the Prestige only be available on Xbox or is it for PC only? BTGames has the Prestige Edition as pre-order but only in the xbox section. Now i find it hard to believe that Infinity Wards or Activision will limit this edition to only xbox when their real die hard fans are on PC. Then again if its only on xbox ill simply buy it for both PC and Xbox.
Found this online. There are speculations that the Night Vision Goggles might be made by the same company the make the Eyeclops Night Vision Goggles. Here is a link to a vid.
The guy says they work as advertised and cost about $80 which places us well with in the estimated $150. 80 for the goggles and 70 for the game. This also means that the Prestige might retail for well below the estimated $150 mark.
That's what I have been getting on the official Modernwarfare 2 forums the entire day while trying to access it.SQL ERROR [ mysql4 ]

Guess something big has been announced after the prestige edition....
Actually, I think CoD4 might've been a bigger success for Xbox than PC. Not necessarily in sales, perhaps, but CoD4 has remained consistently in the top two or three most played games on LIVE since launch. You can't underestimate that sort of brand visibility for publishers.
That said, I'm pretty confident the Prestige Edition will see a multi-platform release.
I am aware that cod has got a large Xbox based fan base but Go have a rummage through the servers and you will see its still played just as much on the pc. Since COD4's release there has been a few xbox titles that has offered great mp gameplay where as with the pc there has only been one or two.
