Why's that? I see this as a step in the right direction, the engines are beginning to surpass the consoles' power, which would force a) smarter development with the console hardware, which would be beneficial in pushing newer engine to their maximum as well, and b) to upgrade the current standard hardware kit to design for, which is the consoles at the moment.
For PC gamers, this is a good thing. Carmack has a knack for pushing the industry in the right direction.
