This is the dark side of the "hype machine". With a game as hyped as this you'll either love it or hate it, people react vehemently either proclaiming "BF3 is the best!" or "stupid piece o' **** game!". So these 34K hyped up players had a bad experience in the beta and now swing from one side to the other. There seems to be no in between, or very rarely.
I must admit, I was feeling pretty bleak about the game when I couldn't connect to any games. I was considering whether I should preorder at all. Fortunately a fellow forumite provided a solution. Now I'm really enjoying the game and will probably preorder soon.
